The matriarch of the McGee clan, Pam grew up on the streets of Flint, Michigan and went on to become one of the most accomplished players in WNBA history. Her basketball accolades are remarkable, including a 75-0 high school record that netted her team back-to-back state championships, a tradition that followed her to USC where she won back-to-back national championships and a Gold Medal at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics. Pam is a breast cancer survivor, motivational speaker, and business manager to her son, NBA superstar JaVale McGee.
She sacrificed a lot to raise JaVale, but now it's "her time." She is single, and proud that she still turns heads. She not only manages her son's career but also younger, up-and-coming players as well. When her son complains that no one else's mom wants to join the players for a shoot-around on the court, Pam reminds him that no one else's mom has as many championship rings as her.
A 25-year-old, 7-foot tall, multi-millionaire, JaVale plays center for the Denver Nuggets.
Growing up under Pam's rule, he wished his mom would be "normal," and just bake cupcakes like every other mother. His new edict with her: "The good news is, I hear your advice, the bad news is, I’m not taking it." But don't let the conflict fool you—this boy loves his mama. He also loves hanging with his boys, a tight knit crew he's known since youth.

Mom's Got Game explores the dynamic relationship between former WNBA basketball star Pamela McGee and her 25-year-old son, Denver Nuggets center, JaVale McGee. Famous for being domineering on and off the court, Pam is not only JaVale's mom, she's also his business manager. She's working to build an empire while trying to keep a tight rein on the glitz and girls that come with the life of an NBA star.
Meanwhile, Pam is managing her own life, which consists of her equally fabulous single girlfriends who also have sons coming up in the league. Like Pam, they are single mothers raising their sons while dating and chasing their own ambitions. When she needs someone to laugh with or a shoulder to cry on, she turns to her girls. With her hectic schedule, Pam relies on her "manny" Jay, to get things done. She trusts him to oversee her home and her life. Her friends even think there could be a love connection, but Pam and Jay deny it—even if they fight like a married couple.
Like any good mother, Pam is a force. After all, she is basketball royalty herself. They may be crazy, loud and a little wild, but family's what it's all about for the McGees and their friends. They make each other laugh...and cry, but they have mad love for each other.
